Curtain falls on Tabarka Jazz Festival

Tunis, July 20, 2009- The curtain fell on Sunday on Tabarka’s International Jazz Festival. The closing evening which featured the French percussionist Andre Ceccarelli (see photo)during the first part of the evening and the American guitar player Mike Stern during the second part, was as exceptional as most of the performances given during then event.

Ceccarelli enthralled the festival audience thanks to his inspired blending of jazz and jazz rock as well as by his moving performance of “My father’s song”, from his 2008 album “Women Perfume”.

The festival which took place from July 10 to 20, also witnessed memorable performances by Alpha Blondie, Al di Meola, and Barbara Carter.

In spite of the festival’s eclecticism, as reflected through the felicitous blending of reggae, fusion, ethno jazz, electro, latin jazz and funk, the event struck the right chord among the audience which followed the event with enthusiasm.

From July 21 to August 10, the international Tabarka world music festival will take on with the awaited performances of Cheb Khaled, Cheb Khalas and Hani Chaker , but also by Tunisian popular performers such as Hedi Habouba, and Mohamed Jebali.

Theatrical performances and Russian and Indonesian ballet dancing are also scheduled.
