Tunis, July 8, 2009- The coastal seaside resort of Tabarka, also known as the city of coral, will resonate again to the sound of jazz music following the resumption of its traditional annual jazz festival which is scheduled from July 10 to 19, 2009
The 47 th edition of the festival which has already hosted such great jazz names as Charles Mingus , Dizzie Gillespie and Miles Davis, will feature Alpha Blondie, Al Di Meola and Barbara Carter, among other celebrities. The closing evening will be given by the American guitar player Mike Steren.
In a related event, the Tabarka international word music festival will feature shows by the well known rai singers Cheb Khaled and Cheb Khalas, as well as the Egyptian performer Hani Chaker.
Moreover, theatrical performances, and ballet dancing by Russian and Indonesian groups are also programmed.
Both events will take place in the city’s historical basilica, however open air concerts will also be given around Tabarka’s marina and on the town’s main street.
