Tunis, January 21, 2009- From February 4 to 7, 2009 the coastal oasis of Chenini in Gabès, will host the 5 th Mediterranean Cinema Days on the theme “Cinema in youth and childhood memories”.
The event is organized at the behest of the regional delegation of culture and heritage preservation of Gabès.The event will comprise 3 workshops. The first is dedicated to one minute- long film productions. The second is concerned with “the techniques of the image” and is aimed at children in primary schools and the third is destined to would- be filmmakers for both cinema and television.
The program also includes a filmmaking competition for potential amateur film directors.
The event will also be marked by the screening of several long feature movies including “Sejnane” by Abdellatif Ben Amor, the “Silence of the palaces” by Moufida Tlatli and “Alexandria-New York” by the late Egyptian director Youssef Chahine.
Short movies will also be screened including “Aziz” by Jalel Ben Saad and “the crossing”, (La Traversée) by Nadia Touijer.
